Some decisions when it comes to self-punishment are far easier than others.

LSU announced Wednesday it was self-imposing a bowl ban for the 2020-21 season.

While schools are eligible for bowls no matter their record in this COVID-19 impacted season, it isn’t too much of a punishment for the defending national champions.

They are currently 3-5 and face another loss against Florida on Saturday. They are scheduled to finish the season next week against Ole Miss, which is having COVID-19 issues and that keeps the game in doubt.

Coincidentally, the decision comes on the day when NOLA.com did an examination into the lost season, which can be read here.

Bold move by LSU taking a bowl ban hit this year when its 3-5 & likely to finish under .500

The school is docking itself eight football scholarships over a two-year period and reducing recruiting visits, evaluations, and communication after a nearly two-year investigation uncovered booster payments to the father of a football player, sources tell Sports Illustrated. The school is banning from its facilities for two years ex-LSU receiver and current NFL star Odell Beckham Jr., who distributed $2,000 worth of $100 bills during a wild scene that unfolded on the field following LSU’s win over Clemson in the national championship game in the New Orleans Superdome.
