Culver-Stockton’s Admitted Student Class for Fall 2021
Congratulations to the following students who have been admitted into Culver-Stockton College’s incoming class for the fall 2021 semester and received academic scholarships.
Will Orban of Homer Glen, and a senior at Lockport Township High School, was awarded the Hilltop Scholarship, a $10,500 per year scholarship.
These scholarships are awarded for four years and are based upon academic credentials. They are renewable provided the student remains in good academic standing.
Emma Bergman Named to Spring 2020 Dean’s List
Emma Bergman of Homer Glen, was one of nearly 600 University of Dallas undergraduate students named to the spring 2020 Dean’s List for earning a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. Bergman is an undeclared major.
Homer Glen Native Plans to Help Pack 1,000 Christmas Shoeboxes for Underprivileged Children
It will look a little different, but Cedarville University’s Operation Christmas Child student organization isn’t letting COVID-19 stop them from hosting its annual packing party for students. Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse that distributes gift boxes to children in more than 100 countries worldwide. They are delivered by trained pastors and community leaders who share the gospel with every child who receives a box.
But even with a different event this year, one of the co-leaders of the organization, Sarah Maue, a junior linguistics major from Homer Glen, still wants to meet the goal of 1,000 packed boxes.To make this event happen, Maue’s team has organized coin drives throughout the resident halls on campus to raise funds to purchase items that go in the boxes.
They also have received generous donations from students, faculty and sometimes local businesses.Next semester, the team will continue to meet once a month to pray for the boxes and those who receive them. At these meetings, the team will also begin writing hundreds of personalized notes to put into next year’s boxes.
