SEATTLE, Nov. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Mobile test prep company Pocket Prep today announces the launch of its inaugural scholarship program, the Pocket Prep Racial Equity Scholarship Fund. The company’s 2020-2021 program will provide five scholarships to Black individuals pursuing professional certifications in select industries.

Earlier this year, Pocket Prep announced its support for the crucial Black Lives Matter movement and committed to taking specific actions to support the Black community. Alongside donations to organizations addressing racial and systemic injustice totaling $18,632, as well as all company employees taking part in an anti-racism workshop, Pocket Prep also announced its intention to launch a scholarship program for people of color and minorities.

“Our mission from day one has been to make education accessible for everyone,” said Peter Murphy, Pocket Prep CEO and Co-Founder. “We understand how challenging and expensive it can be to pursue career-defining credentials. The company grew from the realization that we could make studying more attainable, and more enjoyable. We are excited to step into this new venture of launching a scholarship program in a time when people need it more than ever.”

The Pocket Prep Racial Equity Scholarship Fund will provide the following to each of the five recipients:

  • Free Access to Pocket Prep’s Premium Study Material
  • Paid Exam Registration Fee
  • Paid Exam Study Materials (i.e. required textbooks, guides, software)
  • Additional Study Support of $1,500

The certifications that are eligible for the scholarship include the over 100 standardized tests that Pocket Prep provides study prep for in the industries of medical, nursing, business, IT and cybersecurity, social work, finance, automotive and fitness. The full list of eligible certifications can be viewed on Pocket Prep’s website at http://www.pocketprep.com/exams/.
