The Cañon City Chamber of Commerce awards scholarships annually as a way of giving back to the community and helping those Fremont County residents interested in furthering their education.
This year, the Chamber of Commerce will award six scholarships in the amount of $600 each.
Applications can be dropped off or mailed by Dec. 18 to the chamber office at 424 Main St.
The following are requirements for the scholarships:
— Scholarships will go to Fremont County residents only. That means, if a student is attending a local school but lives in another county, they will not be eligible.
— Funds are for the 2021 school year. As long as the resident is enrolled to begin classes within the 2021 year, they are eligible.
— Scholarship recipients will be able to attend any university, community college or trade school in the United States.
— Proof of enrollment will be required before funds are disbursed.
— Funds will be disbursed directly to the educational institution of choice (upon enrollment verification) and can be applied towards tuition, books or fees.
— If a recipient opts to drop out of school after enrollment but prior to beginning class, funds will be refunded to the Cañon City Chamber of Commerce.
— Once selected, there will be a follow-up face-to-face interview with each candidate.
