The Mansfield Foundation Tuesday announced the latest addition to its growing endowment fund that will further the mission of the organization. Ward Manufacturing has established a new permanent endowed scholarship fund, Jump Start College.
The new endowment will create a permanent funding source for students who will enter their freshman year pursuing any major at any college within the U.S. With their Jump Start College scholarship fund, it is Ward’s commitment to keep the doors to education open by offering relief to the rising costs of tuition that may keep many students from embarking on their post-secondary education journey.
Ward Manufacturing has been a committed philanthropic partner in local communities for decades in addition to providing educational opportunities to the children of Ward employees.
With the establishment of Jump Start College, Ward expands its commitment to education by providing additional scholarships to students in Tioga, Potter and Bradford counties.
“This new freshman merit-based scholarship will recognize students who are committed to using education to better their lives as well as those of their family and community,” said Pete Guidi, Ward president and CEO.
This investment in scholarships can promote academic achievement in area schools and make it possible for students to continue their academic dreams.
Foundation Executive Director Mindy Engel said, “How exciting it is that a local business success story such as Ward Manufacturing recognizes the value of a post-secondary education and its importance to families, our communities and the region. We are indeed grateful to Ward and their decision to partner with the Foundation in our combined mission to keep our communities strong by providing families with a pathway to college.”
Guidi expressed his hope that this new fund will inspire others to establish endowments at the Foundation.
“I know that there are other businesses in our community and surrounding areas that, like ours, would not be as successful as they are if it weren’t for those in our community who return from college and become our next key leaders keeping the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania a vibrant part of Pennsylvania,” Guidi said. “We are confident our investment at the Mansfield Foundation will yield positive results for generations to come.”
