TAYLOR’S College, in partnership with Live Tuition Sdn Bhd, has launched the Taylor’s RM1mil SPM Scholarship to benefit 500 Form Five students in 2021.

As the pandemic has resulted in setbacks for many students due to school closures, the scholarship will enable students across the country to learn from and interact with carefully selected top teachers in Malaysia via the MyTuition online platform to get a head start in their SPM subjects.

“As the pandemic and lockdowns have disrupted schooling for students across Malaysia, Taylor’s College has partnered with MyTuition in hopes to ease student anxieties and provide coaching in their studies in their final year before the SPM examinations at the end of 2021, ” said Taylor’s College campus director Josephine Tan.

“We have seen how students at our college benefitted from online teaching and learning, and we believe this is the way forward even for secondary students to ensure their learning does not stop, and their future plans will be not be hindered.”

She added that with live online classes, students will be able to ask questions, work on given assignments, and have more intensive coaching on various subjects that they have trouble understanding.

With the scholarship, all tuition fees over the span of the three-month initiative from January to March 2021 will be covered by Taylor’s College.

Founded by Youth World Development Sdn Bhd, the MyTuition platform gathers teachers with formidable backgrounds such as Guru Cemerlang, textbook or reference book authors, and award-winning teachers to ensure that students get only the highest quality of lessons that are in line with the national syllabus.

“In the past, students could only learn from teachers who were located near them in brick-and-mortar tuition centres, ” said Youth World Development Sdn Bhd founder and chief executive officer Eddie Lim Yit Min.

“By utilising the currently popular live-stream technology, MyTuition aims to break the geographical barriers of education by connecting top teachers to students regardless of location.”

The scholarship will enable 500 students studying in Form Five next year to attend live online tuition for several SPM subjects. The scholarship will enable 500 students studying in Form Five next year to attend live online tuition for several SPM subjects.

Students who seek to apply for Taylor’s RM1mil SPM Scholarship will need to download The Risers mobile app by Taylor’s. After that, 500 students will be selected and given online accounts with full access to learn from credible teachers on the MyTuition platform.

The live classes, which would be held in the evening, will cover the Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, and History through weekly classes over three months.

All student applicants will also receive free e-reference materials written by renowned authors for the subjects of Bahasa Melayu, English, and History (KSSM syllabus) that could be accessed via the Taylor’s The Risers app.

They will also be given a ticket to access Taylor’s College’s intensive online SPM seminar, slated to take place in the month of October next year, covering 12 subjects to prepare them for the examinations.

Tan said the initiative is in line with the purpose of the Taylor’s The Risers platform that seeks to provide information, mentorship and support to secondary school students who are navigating challenges in their schooling life as well as exploring tertiary education options.

“The Risers portal and app is a good way of equipping students with relevant knowledge, and it is an avenue for students to interact with other secondary school students and Taylor’s brand ambassadors aka Risers to discover their passion, future careers and university pathways.

“Apart from getting tips and coaching with regards to SPM, they are welcome to interact with a Riser kakak or abang for any advice they may need, ” said Tan.

The Risers have been actively creating content for the benefit of students, with articles and videos on relevant topics such as mindfulness, mental health, and study tips for high schoolers.

Students can download The Risers app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and start exploring by commenting, liking or sharing posts to gain points in a unique gamification and reward system.

They can also use their points to unlock various user levels, register for exclusive events, win cool merchandise, movie tickets or food vouchers, and eventually post content on the app.

Students can look forward to events such as a performing arts workshop, SPM seminars, life skills workshops, and an exclusive The Risers celebration.

Applications for Taylor’s RM1mil SPM Scholarship are currently open and students may apply through https://www.mytuition.live/scholarship-application/ before Dec 24. Successful applicants will be notified via email by Dec 30.

To qualify for the scholarship, students are required to download Taylor’s The Risers app, whereby they will be able to redeem the items offered by the scholarship.
